best powders for Dillion presses
I am getting ready to set up my Dillon 550 for some of my rifles and was wondering which powders work best in their powder dispenser. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest any of the ball powders and some of the short cut powders like H-4831sc.
Powders like IMR 3031, 800X will bridge in the powder measure giving under and over charges, as well as creating a mess when the powder drops out at the bottom of the ram stroke.

I have found that the Vihtavouri powders measure pretty well also.

The only thing that has given me problems is long extruded powders going into small cases. Every thing else has been fine. For the small cases I lean towards ball or flake type powder.

Ramshot powders meter like a dream. Clean burning powders with good temperature stability.

Mr Bill
I primarily use W760. I've learned that AA's XMR-4064 works well and I've been happy with Hodgens powders H4350 and H4831. I also use H870 for 7mm RM. H380 works well but I don't care for it.

Don't use IMR4064 unless you like cleaning up the mess every couple rounds. It bridges to much.
