<JoeM>Brass question
Hello,
I was looking at some 17 Rem brass, (win), new manufacture in the store. I spotted an anomoly that made me curious. They were nice brass cases, all but the shoulder and neck. These were severly discolored. I am sure this is only cosmetic, but I still wonder how they got out of the Win factory? What gives?

<Bill>The discoloration, depending on what it looks like may be a byproduct of the annelaing process from the factory.

<jrpilot>I think that Bill is right. I have seen this on some brass before, and it was the annealing process.

CanuckI am sure it is from annealing. All bulk Remington brass seems to have it too. I resize all of my new brass to true the necks and most of the coloration comes off in the die. A little rub with fine steel wool and the brass is all nice and shiny.
