9.3 x 57R case length?
A friend just bought a drilling in
16x16x9.3-57R. He tried to chamber an empty case and it wouldn't go in far enough to close the action. He then FL resized it in the die. It would go in enough that you could almost close the action, but still stuck out a little. We took the barrels off and you could seat the case head backwards in the chamber, so the rim thickness isn't the problem. After a FL resize, the shoulder should be correct. The only thing I can think of is that the OAL length of the case is too long. Does anyone know the case length for this cartrage? Is any load data available?
Thanks, ND

57 mm. Find the conversion factor and calculate the length in inches.

High probablity it won't chamber because it wasn't really FL sized. Try it again after screwinge die down another eigth turn.

CIP does not show the 9.3x57 for some reason but the other 57mm cartridges are, you guessed it, 57mm.

2.24" is close enough.

Friend told me that he was camming over on the shell holder?

Thanks to both of you, ND

Guys - none of you will contract a debilitating disease if you go and buy a metric micrometer.

Then you wont have to do the conversion brain-work to find out what length metric cases should be .

Not everything invented by the French is bad - the metric system is one of the good things... Wink

In fact it's not only the lengtht measurements, the MKS-system includes meter, kilogram and second as mesurements for length, mass and time. ALL other units are derived from these three, brilliant and very elegant, typical French...
