kiwiwildcatHelp with 6.5mm 127gr Barnes LRX
Hey guys,
I've ordered a small quantity of the Barnes 127gr LRX projectiles for use out of my 6.5mm SAUM.
Not alot of guys out there running this projectile in the SAUM, my intention is to use 130gr loading data and work up.
I understand that these are a long bullet, but I don't have any till tomorrow that i can examine. I understand from my searching on the internet that they are very accurate - if they are a similar shape to an 140gr 6.5mm SST then happy days because the last 140 SST's I shot through my rifle were sub half MOA, one three shot group printed 0.383.
I've not loaded the Barnes projectiles before ... I did load and shoot alot of 110gr GS Customs in my .270 Blaser and they were phenomenally accurate.
The grooves cut in the bullet shank, I understand help remove copper fouling - do you find they run at less pressure due to a smaller amount of bullet contacting the bore?
Cheers,
Michael.

jstevensI haven't loaded any in 6.5, although I have some 127's to load in the 6.5 Creedmoor. I have loaded a ton of TSX's and typically reach the same velocity with about a grain less powder than standard bullets.
I (and most people) find that the best accuracy seems to be with a long jump to the lands and near maximum velocities.
I usually see no signs of pressure even at or above max-book loads.

kiwiwildcatHi Frank,
How did your trip to Africa go and did you get down here to NZ.
Sorry mate, I was going to invite you out for a drink to say hi. Let me know when your back down here, I might have an order for some items.

dwheelsI would start them 0.050 away from the lands to start, then go further away until you find what they like. My .270 likes more that.070. I don't remember what it is exactly.

kiwiwildcatdwheels,
This is how they shot at 0.35 off lands. Bearing in mind that I was playing around with the powder charges. I have the opportunity to test again at 200m, am going to try loads between 62.5 - 63.5 in 0.3grn increments. Promising though I would say
