seafire2Redding Body Dies
Anyone use these?
I just order two for the 223 and 22.250 from Graf's...
was wondering if these would be good for potentially 'making' cases of larger cartridges for smaller ones.. eg surplus 06 cases into 7 x 57 cases? body size and then trim?

amamnnI asked a Redding tech some years ago why I would want that die when all I had to do was insert a larger bushing in my FL die to do the same thing--he had no answer. I don't see any advantage in it for wildcatting, either.

tom hollandYes, you can use the body die to form but it will not form the neck to the right dia might have to run the case in a standard die.
Redding make a Form Trim die better
to use one of those.

harry careyTHE BODY DIE ALSO BUMPS THE SHOULDER. I USE THEM ON 6MM ACKLEY AND 22250 ACKLEY WHICH I ONLY NECK SIZE.

krakyI have body dies and use them with a lee collet neck die in my favorite calibers. Yup it's 2 steps but it makes runnout that is virtually zero and you save time by not having to swab out neck lube.
ONE REALLY neat thing I've found on the body die is it's great for resizing LOADED ROUNDS (proabably not recomended by redding's lawyers) when the rounds were fitted for a gun with a longer chamber. I've reclaimed alot of 30-06 and 300 win mag loaded ammo when I got a new gun that had a tighter chamber.

GSSP+1 for Kraky's response.
I set my dies up on my Dillon 550B; universial decapper die then Redding body die followed by Lee neck collet die followed by either Redding or Forster BR seater dies.
This set up produces 1/2 moa ammo in my 30-06 AI.
