LWDNosler 77 gr Custom Competition with 24 grains of Win 748 and Federal 205 works well for me. That same load with 75 grain Hornady OTM good but not as good as the Nosler.

Bob in TXFYI-The newest Sierra manual has specific .223 loads for AR's.
I primarily hunt predators and the occasional hog or javelina with my AR. I use both the 55 gr. and 65 gr. Sierra SBT's. The trend is to shoot as heavy a bullet as you can though.
This is the load my AR likes:
55 gr. #1365 Sierra SBT
Rem. Brass
Rem. 7 1/2 SRBR Primers
25.5 grs. TAC
2.250 COL
65 gr.-Same load-2.260 COL
Both shoot sub-MOA

SamWhat bullet weight and distance? My loads are 52 SMK with 25 grains of H335 and WSR primer and 77 SMK with 24 grains of Varget and CCI400 primers. I haven't loaded it myself yet but TAC is used in the 77 grain Black Hills Match ammo (M232). Eventually I'll be running the same powder for both bullets but I bought powder based on recommended loads.

BECooleWhat kind of chamber?
Check out White Oak Precision for match loads. You can load 75 & 77gr bullets with the same amount of powder as they show for 80s. These are tried-and-true match loads. If you have a CLE chamber, you may have to cut another 1/2gr off the starting loads.
