cummins cowboybest .270 recipe
What is the best recipe to drive a 130 grain nosler balistic tip out of a Remington model 700ADL .270 win.

ready_on_the_rightI don't know about best but my sportsman 78 in .270 loves 55.0 grs of IMR-4350 with the BT and seated .010" off the lands...It regularly puts them into .5" for 3-shots....I use them for my practice/shooting bullets and hunt with Partitions.

<green 788>Ditto the 55 grain IMR 4350 suggestion... If your rifle won't shoot this recipe (130 grain bullet) you've probably got a mechanical or bedding problem with your rifle.
It is usually possible to finesse a handload to offset a rifle's shortcomings, but rifles which are as they should be will shoot the tried and true recipes well.
My favorite recipe is 60 grains of H4831 with the 130 grain bullet. This was a Jack O'Conner favorite load.
Either recipe will serve you well. And again, if you have a 270 that won't shoot either of these to MOA or very near it, you would do well to have a 'smith examine the bedding, bolt trueness, locking lugs, etc.
My thoughts, my opinions,

Mark R DobrenskiB4 R22came out I used IMR 4350 it is still a good choice but I've gotten great accuracy with the R22 and better speeds.
You might want to consider trying some.

<BigBob>Cummins Cowboy,
Your rifle is the only thing that can tell you what the best load is for it. But here is one that my rifle really likes. Fifty-six and a half grains of H-4350, CCI BR #2 primers, 130 grain Nosler Partition bullet all held together with Winchester cases. Velocity in my pre-64 Win M-70 FW is 3064 fps. Accuracy is great. This load is is near the top of the book and it would be a good idea to start low and work up in half grain steps. I hope that this is of some help. Good luck.

Major CaliberI like ball powder for it's easy loading, H-414 works very well, with sub 1/2" groups in every .270 I've used it in. Try 53.5grs, a 130 gr bullet, and a CCI-250 magnum primer. I can vary the load from 52.5 to 54gr's and all shoot well. You can get 3100fps from a 24" barrel.

A near max load of H4831 works very well in my rifle with the Noslers. Start it with a CCI-200 primer and seat the bullet near the lands.
Best of luck, shoot safe and let us know how it works out.

Mark R DobrenskiBy the way it is quite common to get 3200 with R22 and the 130.

ricciardelliHummm...can't tell you what would be the best for your rifle, but the best .270 load I have found is:
Bullet: Sierra 140 Grain HPBT
Powder: 53.1 grains of IMR-4350
Primer: Winchester WLR
Case: Winchester
Firearm: Winchester 70
Velocity: 2,944 FPs @ 15' from the muzzle
For the 130 bullet, probably
RL-22 From 51.0 grains to 61.3 grains
Winchester WLR Primer
