Shoot 480 regularly in a 475 cylinder?

Shoot 480 regularly in a 475 cylinder?
I have a Freedom Arms 475 Linebaugh. I also have a lifetime supply of 480 Ruger brass for my 480s. I have been reluctant to shoot 480 ammunition in my 475. I'm equally reluctant to invest $400 in a FA 480 cylinder. Assuming I clean my 475 cylinder after each 480 shooting session, what's the consensus on shooting the shorter cartridge regularly in the 475 cylinder?

No need to be concerned about heat erosion etching/scoring 475's chambers forward of a 480s case mouth?

Not really.

Or, more accurately, not if 15,000 .38 specs in a GP100 acts as indicator.

You MAY see accuracy differences with the .480 case instead of a .475 case but even that may be minor.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. On the other hand, if it does worry you, $400 on the cost of a $1800 revolver shouldn't be that big a deal...

I would call Freedom Arms and ask them.

I have shot a few 480 Ruger loads in my FA 475 when I first got it as Hornady 480 ammo was easy to find, and not very expensive compared to Buffalo Bore Factory ammo.

However now I only shoot Hornady 475 or Buffalo Bore Factory ammo [both excellent] or my reloads in 475 Brass.
