reloading a 7 mm stw, 150 grain cartridge
A friend of mine is not computer saavy at all, so I'm kind of doing this by proxy.

He would like to know what kind of powder to use reload a 7mm stw, 150 grain bullet, (300 weatherbee neck down) and precisely how much?
IMR 4350 or IMR 4320?......

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Neither....IMR-7828 is the IMR powder to use.

You can also try RL-22 or H-1000.

Visit Hodgdon's website for the recommended dosages.

I had my best results with RL-25. The slower the burn rate the better in this very overbore cartridge. Neither 4350 or 4320 are good choices.

Both of my 7mmstw rifles prefer imr 7828.

rl-22 worked great for me with 150s
h-1000 rocks with 160s
never tried rl-25
imr 4831 rocks with 140s
imr7828 didn't show me any sweet spots(but) i didn't burn but 1/2 pound.
imr4350 is to fast and imr 4320 is even faster, not good choices imo

The 7mmstw is actually an 8mmremmag necked to 7mm,but some people did make wildcats using the 300wby case before the 8mmremmag case was available.

I was in Iceland recently and shot caribou with a 7mm STW, 140 gr. Accubond over ?? gr. VITH N165.
We also shot seals at distances over 200 mtrs and a friend of mine shot a big seagull close to 300 mtrs.

The rifle was a Sako 75 SS synthetic and I have never shot a more accurate combination in the field.

I will ask my Icelandis friend what charge he loads and post it here

I know the boys from "Beyond Belief" used Retumbo with 150 grain bullets in their 7stws and 7rem mags.

Thank you all for your input, you've all been more than helpful.
Can anyone tell me how much powder to use while reloading with any given type?
Thank you

we could tell you what WE use, but truthfully, your SAFEST course of action is to reference the powder manual and bullet manual and begin at a minimum charge or just over and work your way up.
