BluegunnerBarnes 53 gr TSX FB Quesstion!
It is recommented for best pressures and accuracy the this bullet is seated .30" to .070" from the lands of my rifle. Optimum ceperienced at .50". My question? How do you accomplish this, measure it? etc.
There are a few ways from "smoking" a bullet with carbon from a candle to using one of a couple of tools.I use a Stoney Point with collimator and find it easy and quite accurate.

MuleriderAssuming you are using a bolt gun, you can seat it longer than anticipated, measure the OAL, then chamber the round, allowing the bolt closure to push the round in to a max OAL. May take a couple of tries (initial OAL) to allow this to happen, but then you will then have the "at rifling" OAL.
This works even better if you resize just a small portion of the neck, to allow the bullet to seat easier with bolt closure.
There are more precise ways, many different tools and methods available, to determine max OAL and subsequent seating, but hopefully this easy way will get you started.

RemLoverOal stands for "OverAll Length" of the cartridge.

BluegunnerThanks! I knew as soon as you told me that I'd go, "Oh, how could I not know that!"

I find as I get older, that more and more I realize that I know about half as much as I think I know.
