Unique powder in a brown paper canister. How old is it?
Hey this question is for the fellows that have been loading for awhile. I bought a can of Unique powder at an estate auction that came in a brown paper canister 8lbs or so. Does anyone have any idea how old it is? should I be concerned about how old it is?

thanks

Find the lot number and send a message to Alliant.

The last 24 pounds of Red Dot I bought came in 3 brown cardboard cannisters, and that was only a couple of years ago.

Tundrarules,

Use the old schnozzle. If the stuff smells bad to the nose (acidic, acrid, pungent, sharp) then burn it (in small piles of course!!!!!).

It's hard to believe no one will answer this question. Seems like someone would give me a quess of what year this was made. Come on I know some of you guys have been reloading for 40 years.

Round paper canister 4 lbs. Unique. The powder is usable because it doesn't smell bad like Alex said. Just out of curiosity I would like to know how old it is.

Thanks

Well. It's hard to say the exact age, but I bought a four pound "keg" of Unique back around 1981 from a gun shop. he had about five of those "kegs". I think they changed that packaging sometime in the mid 1980's, but that's just a guess. I'm still loading from that "keg"

There is nothing Unique about powder in a paper keg

Thanks Paul, at least you have helped me narrow it down to the 1980s.

I bought an 8# keg of Unique two years ago, it came in a brown paper cannister.

That's interesting Ralph. I thought everything sold in the past 5 years would be in a plastic bottle.

Thanks for your input.
