Horn-HarvesterAA 2230 loads
Got some AA2230 to try in my sav 223 w/ 1-9 twist. With 50grn Vmax and 24.6grns AA2230 = 1" groups @100yds. Tried different OAL and primers and thats the best it will do. 748 will do .5" @100 with the 50 Vmax. My question is "what weight bullet is best for 2230 powder"? Since it is faster than 748 would 45grn bullets be better? Anyone have a pet load for 2230? Thanks, H.H.

<Metrix>I've been using AA2230 exclusivley in my Rem 700 VS for about 10 years, and yes, I do have a pet load.
55gr Nosler Ballistic Tip
CCI 400 primers
Win cases
25.2grs AA2230
This load gives me about 3315fps, and, provided the planets are lined up properly, an average .366 inch group at 100m, 5 shot. I should also mention that all my cases are weighed, and kept to 5% of the average.

LibertyBellI use AA 2230 S. Its a little faster than 2230. 23 gr. of AA 2230S with a Sierra 69 gr. bullet in a .223 gives 3000 fps and accuracy always better than 1". Usually it gives about 5/8" to 3/4", but sometimes 5/16".

<Bill T>You can get AA 2230C from Natchez for $61 for a 8 lb. jug. It's slightly slower than AA 2230, but can be loaded with the same data. It's a good price, and good powder. Bill T.
