Antelope SniperHe's wrong about one thing. CCI primers do have a harder cup. On an over pressure load, Winchester and Federal primers will pierce, where CCI primers will blow clean out of the pocket...

muygrandeSpeaking of primers! Was at the local gun store and noon and for the first time in more than two years primers have been (UN)allocated. I asked for my allotment of two hundred and the clerk asked if I needed more. How about a brick he said? Piqued my interest enouogh to ask for price - $49.95. I asked what happend to the $35.00 price BEFORE the allocation began, knowing the answer of course! Decline the "brick" and told him to call me when the pre-allocation period price came back.
Won't be holding my breath but at least the supply is now TOO EXCESS!

Too bad you couldn't make it to Reno this past weekend. There were tons of them going for realistic prices. There were Wolf small-rifles for $20 a brick and CCI SR for $22 a brick. I bought two of the CCI and felt like a kid again. The vendor had all types, and he had boatloads of them. I was almost in tears...

Boss HossThe odd thing about people who use American brass that is punched worry way too much about primer brands.
The punching process makes the brass very irregular with burrs so make sure and trim the inside of the brass otherwise the primer when ignited will supply a different dispersal pattern giving inconsistent ignition.

I have been cutting the ragged burs for several years now. I use a thingy I purchased from a benchrest thingy retailer. You only have to do it once. Do mine while inspecting the new brass. Use my RCBS Trim Mate.

muygrandeBiscuit, the brick I had offered at 49.95 were in fact Fed 215GM and they had a lot of the 210GM as well.

205M, 215's, and 215M's all were on the shelf at our local Sportsmans Warehouse about 2 hours ago. But pricey, 1k 205M's were $48. I know because I bought 1K. Plenty of CCI's as well. Pretty sure they had Winchesters but can't say for certain as I was not shopping for them.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

BECooleRight now, I'm laughing at all the poor sods who paid outrageous (over $25/thou) prices for primers.
Widener's has Wolf primers for $18/thou.

I have posted on here 2-3 times when my local guy gets the Fed primers in. Of course, that's after I buy 10,000 or more for myself.
I check in with him about 2x/year, sometimes 3x. Just over a month ago he had about 50+ thousand of the 210M, 215M, 210, 215s. I posted here on AR and several members placed orders and got their primers.
