7x57 Load?
I asked this on the varmint section, but I suppose I can ask it here also. I am looking for suggestions for a varmint load for the 7x57 Mauser. I have a 120 grain load that is very accurate in my rifle and was wondering if this load would be ok for varmints, or should I try to work up a load for the 100 grain bullet? I would think that the 120 grain 7mm bullet would not be considered a game bullet with the 130, 139, 140 and 160's readily available. What are some of your 7x57 varmint loads?

I have worked with my 7x65R and light loads. I have loaded 117 grain copper solids from Jaguar

I found my combination gun shoots them very well with 50.5 grain of Vihtavuori 140 at about 2900 fps. I use these as a varmint load when I am small game hunting with a drilling as well.

Lutz Moeller used to make and sell light solid copper bullets. I'd have to check but I believe the 7mm was a bit over 100 grains. He now only offers a bronze alloy bullet, I believe. He's gotten too expensive anyway to experiment with.

My 7x57 shoots the 120gn G S Cusom at 3235fps over 51gn BL-C2 and is varmint accurate but the cost of the bullets precludes using it for this so if you have a good 120gn load by all means use it on the little guys.
