6.5 PRC accuracy.
good morning. I recently bought a MPA PMR Pro 2, PRS rifle. It is chambered in 6.5 PRC.

MPA states "sub 1/2 MOA" I am finding that it does perform at that level.

However, My 3 round groups are almost EVERY time, two touching and one off by 1/2 MOA or a bit more. It seems that is every group.

I don't dwell on bench-rest and am shooting open desert steel at 200-1200. The 100 yard zeroing group size is good, but I think I can load and shoot thee touching every time.

I've been shooting Hornady 147 ELD factory loads at 2910. I'm going to start reloading, now that I've accumulated enough brass.

Anyone have a load that has performed well for them? Also, which die sets are preferred?

I've only been loading for my DR's and accuracy with those are measured in minute of Buffalo and aren't nearly as touchy.

Thanks for any information.

Wow, that's some dedication to test all those combinations. It looks like Varget powder is averaging the tightest and most consistent results?

Also, are the Redding dies a three die set?

My 6.5 Creedmoor shoots thos itsy bitsy groups with quite a few bullets. It's an AR 10 withe a 5R heavy stainless barrel that I built. At the moment I'm fooling around with it shooting cast bullets.

I got the Redding 3 die set for the 6.5 Creedmoor which has two sizer dies one full length and the other neck sizer, and the bullet seating die is the Micrometer one. I find myself using the neck sizer die even in the semi auto AR10 with zero problems.

I shoot a couple of 6.5 PRC's and my magic powders are Magpro and VVN-565. I get the most speed with Magpro with 130 gr. Barnes TSX bullets and best accuracy with the VVN-565, same bullet. Actually both shoot a ragged hole group when I do my part. Good Shooting.

No two die set.

But I think they do offer 3 die set.

Are you shooting any real distance? I ask because of the lower BC on the 130 Barnes. the 147 ELD has a .697 G1, which is outstanding.

I have shot all the bullets available in .264 caliber and have had good results with all. I am a hunter and hunt mainly Deer and Elk. I don't shoot to any distance over 300 yards as my longest shot on Deer and Elk has been 339 yards on Deer and 299 yards on Elk. My Ruger rifle is an AR type with a 26 inch barrel and I do plan to play with distances in the future. Normally my bullet for game is the Barnes or Northfork and both give great accuracy. My scopes are 3 X 9 Ziess Conquest and 6 X 24 Ziess Conquest on the Ruger. Just started on the 6.5's and having great fun so far. Powders so far RL-25 and 26, Varget, VVN-565 and Magpro.
Good Shooting.

This rifle is an MPA, PMR Pro 2 "PRS" type rifle. Not for hunting. Its 24#. I have a Zeiss LRP S3 6 x 36 x56 on it with MilRad reticle.

Thank you for your input.

My Ruger 6.5 PRC is not a hunting rifle weighing 18 lbs while my other PRC is a Sauer 100 and is a fine lightweight hunter. I am playing with the Ruger and loads to use on special occasions on my Bean farm when I need to thin the does and donate the meat to the needy. I shoot many other rifles for hunting from 22's up to .416 Rigby. Good Shooting.

Is it a Ruger precision Elite?

That sounds right, I will check the box tonight. It has proven extremely accurate and handy to clean up after a shooting session. It breaks down and leans side ways so i can swab the barrel from the rear. Also has a very efficient muzzle break. Good Shooting.

That's what I originally was going to buy. But no LH action. The Savage Elite Precision is available in LH but they are experiencing significant feeding problems that Savage seems to be mostly ignoring.

The Masterpiece Arms PMR Pro 2 (MPA) has a bunch of standard stuff that makes the 2750.00 price tag easier to swallow. Full length built in ARCA rail, built in level in chassis, 20 MOA pic rail, Bix-n-Andy trigger (4oz-2lb)threaded muzzle with brake installed.

My shooting partner has your same rifle in 6.5CM. I've shot it a bunch and it's a fantastic shooter. He put a big $$ NF on his.

He's getting ready to order an MPA like mine in 300PRC.

I was also careful to keep the spend under the amount allowed to shoot in the production rifle class, should I ever decide to. (2500.00 optic and 3000.00 rifle)

My Ruger 6.5 PRC is a Precision and I am very impressed with the design and utility of the rifle. The 26 inch barrel is proving to be very accurate and fast. I just happen to have an extra Ziess 5 X 25 X 50 Scope for sale that has a Z-Plex cross hair on it. Sold the rifle it was on and have no need for it. A $1,500 scope that I will take $1,000 for. Used very little and has no marks. Good Shooting.
