Chrony'd my CCW 45 Colt load
Ruger Old Model 4¾" Vaquero 45 Colt

Hornady 250 gr HP/XTP #45200
13.0 gr Blue Dot
CCI # 300 Large Pistol Primer
1.600" OAL
¾ turn crimp, Lee Factory Crimp Die
New, sized, Starline brass

Lee Hand Press
Lee Pistol Dies
Lee Auto Prime
Lee Perfect Measure Powder Dispenser

I've been practicing with my Vaquero a lot lately, and using it for CCW, and finally got around to chrony'ing the load I carry.

Today I took 6 random cartridges from my box of 45 Colts and chrony'd them at 15 feet with a Chrony F1.

1) 958.5 fps
2) 958.9
3) 958.1
4) 963.0
5) 959.2
6) 957.9

I am very happy to say the least!

The above load is probably too hot for a Colt clone or New Model Vaquero.

But it's pretty sweet for a Blackhawk or an OM Vaquero.

Impressive, 509 foot pounds muzzle energy.

A bad day at the range is better than a good day at work.

Cool
With the exception of a WLP primer, that's my practice/go-to load in my Blackhawks and Redhawk. Never chrono'ed it, so, thanks!!

I'm thinking it'd sure be the cat's whiskers for a defense load!!

Load smart. Load safe. Triple check everything. Never use load data from the 'net without checking against known, pressure tested load data. Typo's happen!!
