<Alaskan>7mm-08
I would appreciate some help on a powder for a 7mm-08. I am shooting a T/C Encore carbine and can't complain with anything I have tried......IMR 4350, RL19, and IMR 4895. It is a brand new barrel (custom), and I arbitrarily picked these 3 and started a grain under recommended max. All performed very well with the best being .75" @ 100 yards (IMR4895) but all under and inch. I am shocked that I can get that so easily, and know with a little work I can do better but thought I would ask the question here to maybe save some time.
Anything will be appreciated.

Hot CoreHey Pat, I have a 20" barrel M7KS that really likes H414 with bullets from 115gr-150gr. Just tried to count up and I think I've used 17 different weights, styles and brands within that spread in my 7mm-08.
It is one of those "rare" rifles that likes about anything you put in it though. I'm really not looking forward to the day that the barrel will need to be replaced.
Anyway, it seems each barrel is different, and yours may not like H414 at all. You are in the same relative Powder speed with the H4350 and RL-19.

<Hal S>I recently tried IMR 4064 with 120 and 140 grain bullets and got better results than with the Varget I had been using. I have had results similar to yours though - everthing I have tried has been good. 4064 just tweaked the results a little.

<Gary Rihn>It looks like this one is being read more than your post under Target Rifle Shooting, so I'll repost here.
41.0 grs Varget, 140 gr Nosler BT, Rem brass, WLR primers.
Best group of .259", with it almost always shooting 1/2 MOA or better.

<Reloader66>My records show H-380 and WW760 as the most compatable powders for the 7MM-08 cartridge. Every rifle is unto itself when it comes to the powder it will digest to produce the best accuracy. Other powders can give good results in the 7MM-08 but the two powders I have listed should produce very good results.

<Alaskan>Thanks to everyone. I am haveing a lot of luck with both Varget and H380. I am damn impressed with the way this rifle shoots all the way around but these two powders are really standing out, 3/8" at 100 yards. 1 grain under max from the Hogdon manual, and a 140 gr. Nosler Bullistic tip. I have only had a chance to shoot one load threw so I'll experiment a little and see if I can't get em a little tighter.
Thanks Again,
Pat
