Thomas JonesRL-19and 22 for the Roberts.
I went to the Alliant powders web site. They show some prety impressive numberts for plus p roberts loads.
How about a 100 gr speer at 3110 from 47.2 grs of RL-19 and only 47900 cup !
I would start a little lighter but thats screaming for a roberts and at least in there rifle you have a prety good safty margin.
If you like a little more bullet weight 46.5 grs of RL-22 pushes a 120 grain sierra hp along at 2945 fps and only 48000 cup.
If I can come close to those velocities and get groups at or at least very near to MOA, I will be tickeld pink.. If you switch to a partition or an X bullet and get similar results
I would say the Roberts is a rifle perfectly suitable for anything from varmints through caribu out to 300 yards...tj3006

Set it side by side with a 6.5 X 55.....and remember the 6.5 X 55 will shoot 140 grain bullets.....and 120 grains almost as fast as the Roberts shoots 100 grains.
The Roberts should have killed out the 6mm cartridges.....but that's history....it's among the finest rifles in my safe.....a great little round.

ricciardelliFor 100's:
H-414 From 38.2 grains to 46.7 grains
Remington 9-1/2 Primer
For 120's:
RL-19 From 36.0 grains to 47.2 grains
Remington 9-1/2 Primer
Don't take what you read about velocities and pressures as bible.

tom ga hunterI ahve loaded up to 48.5 gr of rl22 with a 120 bullet but only bairly broke 2,900 fps with a 24" barrel so i went back to h4350 at 2,850

I agree with Ricciardelli on both of those points.
I've found that H414 is the best powder for 100 grain bullets in my Roberts (an older Ruger 77).

Thomas JonesH-414 is what i have used in my Ruger. And it is excelent. With one minor draw back. Its a diry burn. I think I will load up some 110 grain noslers with a charge of H-414. Wish I had some data to atart with...tj3006
