Code4H4895 in the 250-3000
Anybody got a good load with this combo under a Sierra 87 sPT ?

TX NimrodWhat gun? An M700 will take a lot more pressure than an old M99 will. Most (not all) published load data is for the latter.

seafire/B17GHodgdon's Manual lists a max charge of 37 grains of H 4895, for an MV of 3208 fps...

Rae59"I" am currently using 35.5 gr. of H-4895 under the Sierra 87 gr. Sptz. At a tad under 3100 fps.
I am using up the second of 2 cans of the old Hodgden stuff (in the cardboard container) with the second can being a bit newer and a bit hotter powder. With the first older lot I could load to 36.5 at 3140 fps. With no issues, not so with the 2nd.
All being fired in a Savage model 16 bolt gun.
Great accuracy.
You will need to work up "your" load starting somewhat lower especially if it is a lever job.

TX NimrodThe most accurate load in my X-100 is 34.0 grains H4895 and either the Sierra 87 or the Nosler 85 BTip. Not max but warm with the components I used.

Code4Well I went to the range today and started with 34.5 grains and went up in half grain increments to 36 without pressure signs. 35 seemed to show promise but I will need to shoot more groups.
I will have to try 34 now
