140gr. Sierra, 38.5 gr. WCC846,FNM cases, 215 primer, oal=3.090", 2376 to 2451 fps.,4 shot 3/4" group @50yds.,5 shot 1" group@50yds.

140gr. Rem., same loading, oal=3.060", 2391 to 2500 fps., 4 shot 3/4" group @50yds.,

140gr. Sierra, 38.9gr. WCC846, Bosnian cases, 215 primers, oal=3.090",2401 to 2447 fps., 4 shot 1/2" group @ 50 yds.

140gr. Rem.,same loading, 3.060", 2417 to 2602* fps., *shows a little pressur sign.4 shot .300" @ 50 yds., 5 shot .700" group.

140gr. Rem. 39.4gr. WCC846, Bosnian cases, 215 primers, oal= 3.060", 2507 to 2549 fps. , not hot, .5" group @ 50 yds.

FYI--- 139gr. HOT SHOT ammo,( Bosnian), 2376 to 2439 fps., Terrable soot and gas in face, 6 shot 1 1/4" group @50yds., 5 shot 5" group at 300yds., 5 shot 4" group at 200 yds.

I have found that a dirty barrel is not tolerated by my 6.5x55 and with your 29-inch barrel; this would be a big factor. You may already know this but I felt it worth saying. They foul toward the end and it will affect your accuracy. I clean after about every ten rounds. Maybe a little over kill but I like to keep it as close to same hole as I can. Thanks for taking the time to post your results.

I never shoot my 96s at 50 yards, so I have nothing to compare, but I can tell you that I haven't experienced any undue fouling when using quality components. It has been my experience that the 6.5X55 is one of those odd ducks that will shoot about any reasonable combination well -especially if you're using 140 grain bullets or heavier. For example, my 96 will shoot IMR 4895 with the same aplomb as it does N-160. I could have driven my 96 target rifle to 1st place in a vintage military rifle match, but I broke my sling during the rapid fire and came in third. Anyway, I've never seen a 96 that was picky about its diet -and I've never seen one that wouldn't shoot. Now I know why Kimber sporterized all those old 96's, because with a little work, it was a sure bet...

Than I suggest you never use The Hot Shot ammo I used. This was the dirtyest filthyest stuff I ever saw. It was used prior to all the other loads without the rifle being clean. I'm one of these people who never cleans a rifle at the range. Old habits die hard. When I was young I doubt if I ever fired a CLEAN rifle by today's standards. Don't know how I ever did any good at getting game. Just lucky I guess. roger
