In the search for the ultimately ricochet proof 222 load I thought I would speak to Berger Bullets to see if they had any experience/load data for the 30gr MEF in 222rem. To be honest I was expecting the 'why on earth would you want to do that it's a hornet bullet' type of response I got from Hornady about the 35gr Vmax.

They put me through to Walt, it was only when he said 'Walt Berger' that I realised I was talking to the (ex) owner.

What a nice guy, he couldn't have been more helpful. By a strange coincidence he only just chronoed the 30gr in his 22-250 yesterday! 4,350fps and under .5"! He thought they would be a good idea and he's going to develop some loads for me to ring back in 2 weeks.

I'm gobsmacked, what a guy. He said he gave up on 222rem because he got tired of lugging 4 rifles around the bench rest circuit for him and his wife....Now he uses a 6mm and only lugs 2 rifles around!

Anyhow for those interested I'll post the loads when I get them from him.

The same thing happen to me, ,, I talked to Mr. Berger and he was a huge help. Come to find out after talking to him, he lives only about 10-15min from me. What a small world.

Bruno's got me hooked on the Berger bullet, and it seems to the best job for me.

I hope to run into Mr. Berger at the range some day.

Take Care,

TGW

Yeah!

Most of us "gun nutz" want to talk to other gun nutz. If you have a question for one of these mfgs, there's a good chance you'll be put in touch with the "main man."

Try THAT with MicroSoft or AOL.com !!!

I can only agree with 1894 about Walt and Eunice Berger. You cant find more helpful and nice people!!

I have been to Phoenix for benchrest matches and have had the plesure to met the couple several times. They have been really helpfull and the benchrest sport have a lot to thank to these dedicated people.

I had the pleasure of talking to Mr. Berger last year at the Fargo ND show, and he is a great guy! He is interested in talking to people who llike to shoot. A real down to earth guy. If more people were like him, the world would be a better place.

1894, do you know what twist that .22-.250 had on it? Just curious. How cool it would be to have one set up for 50grs for hunting and 30gr. screemer for varminting.

I'll ask when I ring him in a couple of weeks
