Somebody help me out here
I need a starting load of RL-19 in the .348 Win. with 200 or 250 gr. bullets, I can handle it from there.

I arrived at 59gr. of RL19 with a 200 gr. bullet would be a safe starting load. About 64 gr. would be still below max. This was arrived at through interpelation using H4831 and H4350 as standards. Just out of curiosity why are you wanting to use RL19? beerroger

Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

Bartsche,
OK here is what I found out in my testing.

The only RL-19 load that I really liked was 63 grs, 210 Fed, WW case, 220 Barnes original, for 2414 FPS and was a 1.5" 3 shot group at 100..

61 grs of RL-19 same with a 250 Barnes original or Woodleigh was 2321 FPS, and a bit over an inch for 3 at 100..

My favorite load was the super accurate GS Customs 180 gr. flat nose hollow point with 53 grs of Rl-15 at 2645 FPS average, mild and a one hole cluster wit irons..

Also that big ole case likes IMR-4350, H4831, 4895 something Ive tried to get away from as they meter like rocks thru a one inch pipe..

All in all IMO, RL-15 is the best powder for the 348 win. and RL-19 has promise for sure and they both meter nice and smooth, and when I weigh those cases they are all dead on. so I can measure about every 10th case if that..I have that old powder measure down pat from years of use, so it speeds up my reloading time considerably...

I also found H414 and WW760 to be excellent powders and they meter exceptionally well..

That 180 gr. GS Custom monolithic is an awesome penetrator and expands nice and at 2645 av. it has to be a hammer..Its as long as cup and core 250 gr. I also tested the 97 gr. 25-35 bullet at the same time and its as long as the factory 117 gr. 25-35 and out penetrates the factory as did the .348 and by a bunch..These bullets give new life to the old guns killing power and added considerably to their accuracy..I will be shooting my yearly cow elk with that .348 this coming season, and a couple of whitetail with the 25-35 down in Texas, Lord willing and the creek don't rise.
