bukmstr7mm Rem Mag
Hello Everyone!
Need some help on suggesting a good 150/160 grn load. First time I am loading the 7 and have heard RL 22 is one of the top picks???

Dutch140 gr. XLC (though I would now start with a TSX!) over RL22, 215 primer, 3300 fps, or thereabouts. Shoots diagonally through elk.... HTH, Dutch

fredj338To me, the reason for going up to the 7mag from a 7-08, 7x57 or .280, is to push a heavier bullet faster. I think you are on the right track w/ a good 160gr bullet for most NA game. I have had good luck w/ RL22 & IMR7828. Start @ 61gr & work up. I also like the 160grNP in the various 7mags. Nosler's 160grAB is a very good shooter as well, but I haven't taken game w/ it yet. The CT 160gr (nonmoly) is a great performer if you expect close in shots, it's a very tough bullet.

Rob1SGIf either RL22 or IMR 7828 don't work in your rifle. I've had great luck with H1000 and 160 gr Nosler Partitions.

Magnum hunter80 grains of H-870 and the 160gr. Nosler Partition shoots into 3/4inch from my rifle. Fed. 215 primer, Rem. brass and i get an honest 3100fps too. What more would anyone want???

AggieDogDont forget RL-19, it performs well with 140 gr bullets in a 7 mag.

beemanbemeA 160gr NP or Grand Slam (whichever the rifle shoots best) in front of a handful of 4350 is about as good as it gets for me.

ReloaderBckmstr,
Try 66 grns of R22 under a 160 Sierra BTSP or a Hdy 162 BTSPIL and you should get some great accuracy and game performance.
I get .5-.75 groups w/ 66 grns R22 and 160 Sierra GK BTSPs w/ Fed 215 GMM primers (velocity is 3100 fps out of a 24"er)
Good Luck!

ShadowReloader,
Is that a chrono'ed or guesstimated velocity for that 66 grain RL-22 load?
Regards,
Bob
160 Accubond.....63 RL22... .45" at 100 yds and 3030 fps. 24" bbl.

BigNateAnother good powder for the 160's and 175's is Retumbo.
I'm still playing with loads and am working with RL22 and Retumbo at the present with some 162gr. Hornady SST's.

ReloaderShadow,
That is a chronied load out of a 24" Rem Model 700. 3100 + alittle every now and then.
She drops about 18" at 400 when zeroed at 200.
Good Luck!
