Looking for some help in reloads for this rifle. Tried H 380 139 interbond bullets not much luck. Any help here?

The 7mm-08 has become a favorite of mine. My Browning A-Bolt (no boss) likes Hornady's 139g BTSPI, R-P Cases, 40.0g of IMR-3031 and CCI 200 primers. The 3031 powder isn't quite the norm but the .75" groups and a full freezer can attest to its effectiveness. Good Shooting!

Farmboy, I shoot a 150gr. Ballistic tip with 39.5grs. of Varget and am enjoying .460" 5 shot groups at 100yds, consistantly, will be trying 150MK with Varget and RE15 on Wed. which is the accuracy load powder in the Sierra manual, for that 139Hor. try 39.5-40.5grs. of RE15 or 41-42grs. of Varget, If these two won't work nothing will, Oh, you could try 37-38grs. of H4895, another excellent powder for the 708, go about .010" off the lands. Another vote for 3031. I use 40.2 grs. with 140 gr. Nosler BT's, Rem brass and Fed 210M primers. Get excellent velocity and accuracy.

Where did you get 139 gr. Interbonds. Hornady told me they weren't making them yet???

Haven't tried varget enough to have an opinion but H4895 has done very well for me.

Thanks everyone. I guess that I will hve to keep trying until I find what this Weatherby likes. I always dream of owning a Weatherby and now I don't know.

farmboy, A call to the Hornady techs will tell you the same thing I'm using, Varget, RE15, VV140, H4895, Rem. 91/2 or CCI LR primers. Never owned a Weatherby, but they seem like fine weapons, I'm getting mine under 1/2moa groups with a Rem. S/S, HS stocked, Leupold 3.5-10X, I'm sure you'll get similar results with that Weatherby. Sorry I tried to answer you by the way of your home e-mail. I got the interbonds from a local gun shop. He had a time getting them but I got two boxes. I am not sure quite where he got them. I know that he had called Hornady and got somewhat the same answer. They stated that there were a few out but in a couple of months they would be in full production and on the market. I can ask him where he got his and maybe you can order some from there. I'll try and talk to the guy in a couple of days. Sorry for the delay in posting an answer.

Thanks so much for your help. I found a faulty scope. I tried a different scope and then used a slower burning powder. IMR 4350 was something I had and this seems to be the ticket at the moment. Of course a good scope would have made the job a whole lot eaiser. Thanks again,

Just like the guys above, I don't know what is with 3031 but i shoot a 7 x 57 that was no hero in the accuracy dept, until I put 40 grains of 3031 in a case.

With a 4 x scope, I got groups I could cover with a quarter at 100 yds, instead of with this weeks Newsweek!

40 grains of 3031 must be a 7mm non magnum case holy grail!

Prior to working up my 7mm-08 loads I spoke to many (including the Hornady guys). I chose the 139gr SST's for metallic silhouette and deer/antelope. The 7mm-08 silhouette guys/hunters I was talking to consistantly spoke highest of IMR4064 and RL15. I am very open minded and tried others, but the IMR4064 and RL15 definately outperformed the rest. 41.1gr of 4064 slightly more accurate than the 41.9gr of RL15 (without trying hard, both approx 2750mv and less than MOA in my Rem700ADLsynthetic22"). I also use Fed210Match primers in R-P brass and a 2.797" OAL. Now if I can get those 162SST's to shoot maybe I can knock down some rams...

Deke, You gotta try 38-39grs. of RE15 with 150MK, 91/2 Rem. primers and brass, .010" off the lands, my 700 easily shoots under 1/2 moa with either one, VVN140 will probably work better for bullets weighing over 160grs. according to the Sierra manual. Jay.
