I haven't tried H4831sc in my 7mm Rem Mag, but am thinking about working up some loads with it. It seems that when 7 mag loads are discussed, you rarely see a load mentioned that uses this powder. It's always RL22, IMR 4350, 4831 or 7828, H1000 and so on. I want to know if anyone has used H4831sc in the 7 Remmy and if so, what has been your experience. It seems like it would be an ideal powder for this cartridge.

With the 160 gr Bullets work up to 66 gr of H4831. This is a listed max load. Should break the 3000fps barrier.

DH, H4831SC is the same powder as H4831 and is an excellent choice for the 7Rem Mag. I used it for years until I sold my 7 Mag and the accuracy was amazing with just about every bullet I tried.

H-4831 is a good powder for the 7mm Remington Mag., but I found that it is not the best (except for 125 grain bullets).

I have two 7mmRemMag's, and both have been a challenge. After trying a number of different combinations of bullets and powders, I found a load that seems to shoot well in both, albeit a bit hot in one of them.

Somewhere I read that if it won't shoot a Hornady flat based bullet, it just won't shoot. Well, I had some of those in 175gr in my drawer. Somewhere else, I read that if you can get it to shoot with RL 22, throw it out. Well, I had some of that, and one thing led to another, and I ended up with a test loading of 175gr Hornady and 62grs of RL 22. This shoots well in both rifles. IN the M70 (new control feed), it delivers 2800fps and one inch groups (actually, I believe it will go sub-MOA if I change my aiming technique). In my Mauser, it shoots about 1.25" at 3000fps+. This rifle has a 24" barrel and the M70 has a 22inch (well, its about 25" but 3" is BOSS!)

The bolt is sticky in our 95 degree weather, and I would not use this load unless I expected to be shooting in very cold conditions (freezing to 50 degrees F). Here in Florida, I'd back off a full grain. I used both Win Large Rifle and FC 210M. There was very little difference in acc. The WLR was probably a little hotter.

I'd recommend RL 22 over H 4831 which I like in several other applications, but which I have not been able to get to work in my 7mm. I know this was not quite on target for your post, but I have been wanting to report my success with this. I AM SO HAPPY! I thought I was going to have to put these two rifles into my wife's next garage sale. Ku-dude

I have burned a couple of pounds of H-4831SC in a 7mm Remington, 61 grains per case with 140-grain bullets. The book says it should be about 3000 fps and the trajectory seems to bear that out ( I don't have a chronograph yet ). Not an especially hot load but works well.
