spoonbendernumber of casings per pound?
Are there any charts available for determining how many casings (by caliber) there are by weight? Got lots of .45 acp to sell, would save lots of time just weighing it...

craigsterI've never seen one. Just weigh a case and divide it's weight into 7000 and you'll have your answer.

spoonbenderThanks. On second thought, as there are variances in casing weight by manufacturer, a chart would only be an estimate anyway.

Spoonbender,
If count out 10, 20 or 50 randomly chosen cases, weigh them and divide by the number you counted out, you can get a pretty good approximation of the average weight of cases in the lot you're wanting to get a count on.
If ten cases weigh 350 gr. then an average case will weigh 35gr. (350/10=35) and there will be 200 cases in a pound. 7000/35=200

Ol` JoeI used to do small part inventory by wgt (screws, nuts, washers, ect) for a automaker. We did a 10-15 piece sample and figured our total count by weight from there. It was good enough for the IRS to except for tax purposes.
