old owllooking for a new load
I'm shooting a Tikka T3 lite SS in 270 wsm and I'm presently using the Mag Pro by Accurate it shoots very well but the problem is that powder is very hard to come by in Canada more specificly in the province of Quebec.
To make a long story short is anyone out there willing to share a load that would perform and be more readely availlable in my necks of the woods?
I'm using 74.2 gr COL 2.760 and getting 3289fps with Nosler Accubond 140 gr for hunting.
(plinking SST )
I've ordered the latest Nosler reloading manual but still waiting (not yet availlable up here)
Hodgdon and IMR are easaly found. It would be greatly appreciated

2ndtimerMy first choice for my .270 WSM is Vihta Vuori N-165, but it also is somewhat hard to find and expensive. My current powder is Accurate Data 86 which is a bulk version of their 3100 powder. Not quite as consistent as N-165, but less than half the price and still provides decent performance. IF I had to use IMR or Hodgdon powder, I would check out H-1000 or Retumbo with 140 gr bullets for the Hodgdon side, and IMR-7828 for the IMR side. Some have reported good results with faster powders like H-4831 and IMR-4350, but I believe that the slower powders work better for the .270WSM. I haven't tried them yet, but my rifle loves the 140 gr Accubond and I have to use up about 25 pounds of Data 86 before I can justify trying any new powders. By that time, it will probably be with a new barrel, too.

Bear in Fairbanksold owl:
Here it is straight out of Nosler #6 which I just picked up today. For your 140 gr. Accubond:
Most accurate powder - AA3100 - start - 59.0 gr. @2913 fps
Max charge - 63.0 gr. @ 3116 fps.
H-4831sc - start - 58.5 gr. - @2949 fps
Max charge - 62.5 gr. @3108 fps
IMR-4350 - start - 56.5 gr. @2938 fps
Max charge - 60.5 gr. @3154 fps
IMR-7828 - Start - 57.0 gr. @2950 fps
Max charge - 61.0 gr. @3161 fps
H-1000 - Start - 61.0 gr. @3025 fps
Max charge - 65.0 gr. @3165 fps
I shoot 150 gr. bullets exclusively and IMR-7828sc and Retumbo have both shown good promise. I also wanna try Magpro when I get a chance. FYI, Magpro is listed for the 140 gr. Accubond too. Load info for it is:
Magpro - Start - 65.5 gr. @3092 fps
Max charge - 69.5 gr. @3237 fps
Nosler lists a total of 10 different powders for the 140 gr. bullet weight - FYI.
Hope this gets ya started. Good luck & Happy New Year.

old owlThanks a whole lot guys, I hope to get a call from my local supply shop for the reload manual I've been waiting since mid summer.
In Canada the only supply point for MAG PRO is EPPS in Ontario and by the time it gets to my door I'm looking at $45.00 a pound.
