338wm 250gr nosler partitions
Looking around for load/ powder suggestions besides the powders listed in my nosler book thats a bit old. Seeing as how factory anmo with the 250gr nosler is giving moa accuracy i figured i could duplicate or do better with my own hand rolled stuff

I shoot 225 Gr. Partitions in my .338 Win. and use H-4831sc powder. Should work with the 250 Gr. as well. Nosler shows this as their most accurate powder on their website.

The 338 is not fussy in my experience. Just about any powder 4350 burning speed or slower works.IMR 4831, RL19, RL22 H4831 all work.I've got an old Ruger Mk 1 that loves H4831 and 250 gr bullets

Add IMR7828SSC to that list, especially for a 250 grain bullet.

IMR 4350 always worked for me. 210's, 225's or 250's.

I must agree, IMR4350 in my 338 WM is very accurate and pushes 225 grain Sierra's out of its 22" barrel at 2845 fps.

I used 4831 and 4350 for years, but it cuts grains thu my powder measure and requires weighing IMO..

Today I use RL-19 and RL-22, I get a tad over 2900 FPS with RL-19 and RL-22, and that's been my elk loads for the last 4 elk seasons, its about perfect, shoots flat and kills...

I shoot the 250 at 2650 to 2700 FPS and have gotten 2800 FPS but my hunting load is 2650 FPS, it shoots as flat as my 180 gr. bullet in a 30-06..Pretty hard to beat a 338 Win for elk and larger NA animals, as well as African PG, and a few buffalo and bison, its served me well both here and abroad..

The biggest surprise is the 275 gr. Speer (discontinued) at 2701 FP average of 10 with a boat load of RL22 and safe but max pressure,.That load shoots as flat as my 30-06 with a 180 gr. bullet at that velocity..

I seldom list powder charges, but my max loads have been through the mill testing, including the loading and reloading of one case to determine loose primers, and number of loads, number of trims, and case life..If one intend to wear big boy pants you must go slow and do all time consuming tests..There is so much difference between guns of the same specs and results are different in one degree or another, After I do all this, I then adjust my using loads to work in the other guns of same caliber, but its usually suitable for them all. Something that surprises me most of the time, and an indication all is well...Sometimes I must add that even when all works well, adjustment though seldom may be needed in time to come for a number of reasons, its the last part of the process as a rule.
