For those that use it POWDER VALLEY shows 8 lb. jugs of IMR 4320 "IN STOCK".

I thought it was discontinued---I hope not because I could use some but not 8 lbs.

I use to buy powders by the pound. I used to say never to kegs then I brought powder by the keg.

I burned up many kegs.

If you need some buy the keg you most likely will not regret it

I use it exclusively in my 17 Rem rifles. I also thought it was discontinued.

It is all gone now.

There is an RL powder that duplicates it?? maybe RL-17?? can't remember, but looking it up in the burning rate charts should work..

there is no RL powder that duplicates to 4320

RL-15 is the closest, a little faster burn, RL-17 is much slower

I4320 is close to RL15/N203b - Varget -
This is ONLY burn rate, not bulk or grain to grain

If you will look in the Hodgdon Reloading manual, you will see IMR 4320 and Varget quite often listed next to each other, with only a grain or so difference in loads.

I found it to work great in the 338-06 and 458 Lott..got me my best velocity back in the 70s and 80s..It was thought to be near IMR-4064, I suppose because both worked about the same in those two calibers..

I've always used 4320 in my .22-250 and the iconic load in my .17 rem's. 24 under 25. I'm still sitting on 3-4#'s and enough loaded .17's to keep my son shooting long after I die...then again,that goes for several calibers.

I would trade 4064 for 4320 any day of the week. I recently tried 4064 in my .32 Remington m14 and found it inaccurate and kinda punky sounding in a loading that should have been right at factory level. Loaded a batch with the same 34.5 grains of 4320 I use in .243 and it is not only very accurate but sounds like a rifle should. I wish I could find someone local with an extra 8 pounder of 4320 needing an 8 pounder of 4064 since I have one unopened that I probably will never use.

They claim there will be no more 4320 but they dropped it once in the past and brought it back.Send the company an email requesting that they put it back in the line, enough requests might change their minds.

Over the decades I have shot many kegs of IMR4064.

It is my go to powder in my 416 I found it gives me better velocity and accuracy in my 416 with less powder the RL15.

I have loaded in many calibers.

I hope they haven't changed it for the worse.

Back in the day I used a lot of 4064 and 4320. Jack O'Connor loved both in his 06 and so did I..
Today my complaint is the old powders don't measure near as well as the new stuff, and I had to weigh most rounds in most of it..I seldom weigh a load with RL-15, 17,19 or 22 after testing how many loads I could throw within the same specs as the scale, and its spot on if you savy the measure..Try tossing a hundred or so and weighing them each with todays powders H414, 760, H380, Blc-2, 748. most of the RLs and LRev, you might be surprised!!?

I used 4064 and 4320 interchangeably with the Hornady 139gr Spire Point back in the days when loading for my fathers Ruger 77 7mm-08.
44.0grs of either gave an average MV of 2863fps.
The same 44.0grs 4320 with Speer 145gr SP produced just over 2800 fps.

My Varget load these days for the 7mm-08 is 43.5grs with Sierra 140gr SPBT or the Hornady 139gr SST bullet for an average MV of 2867fps.

Varget, 4064 and 4320 are all lumped together in burn rate on most charts, Varget and 4064 on same line and 4320 slightly slower.

I keep a lot of powder in stock, including the 4320 + 4064 + of course the BLc-2, but I think my favorite all-time user is 4350.

H-380 replaces a lot of older powders in a number of calibers..Its performance is close to BalC-2
