Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

Chris01100gr Hornady Interlock spire point. Accurate, inexpensive, kill deer and antelope well.

snowmanI'm not really in favour of using a 6mm on the large whitetail we have in Manitoba. However I have used the 243 & 6mm Rem on antelope and to fill several whitetail doe tags. In my 243 the 100 gr Hornady flat base spire point has performed very well. My 6mm Rem doesn't care for that bullet but it will shoot the 85 gr Sierra flat base into tiny little clusters. On broadside lung shots the Hornady usually exits while the Sierra seldom does. In both cases the lungs are a wreck and the deer only take a step or two before collapsing. I don't see any improved performance with the 100 gr Partion over the Hornady at 243 speed. However when you move up to the 240 Wby the Hornady frequently comes apart and the Partion really starts to shine.

jstevensDeer are easy to kill and the standard 100 Hornady is as good as anything in a .243. It will knock them straight down, even the big deer like we have in Mo.

Cold BoreWhile I don't use my 243 for deer nearly as much as I used to, when I do it's with 100 grain Nosler Partitions. (I'd use the 95's with no hesitation as well if that's all I had).
However, the very best, most "classic" mushroom of any bullet I ever recovered, was a "lowly" factory Remington 100 grain CoreLokt. It is like the stuff you see in magazines.

GustavoAfter having very bad experiences on deer-size game, with 95gr Nosler BT at 3100fps out of a Ruger KM77RP (22" barrel) I decided to switch back to my trsuted one-shot killing machine, the 85 gr Barnes X, now in TSX fashion at 3200fps.

My one for all bullet in .243 is the 100 grains Nosler Partition. It dropped everything down like Thor's hammer, even up to larger game than deer..... performs like nothing else I ever tested in my Winnie....

1894mk290gr Ballistic tip for deer up to 200lb weight.
Generaly found just under the skin I use it at 3,200fps from my 6mm rem and 2,900fps from my short barreled moderated 243.
I just shot 3 fallow in 3 outings with the moderated 243. All chest hitting the top of the heart no buck made it past 20yards and one was big and riled up for a fight.
Whenever I hear that 243s are not suitable for hunting deer I know that someone must be using a poor bullet or not putting it in the right place or using it on massive animals. I've just shot too many with 6mms/243s to know otherwise....

LongshotFor those shooting .243 and 6mms I suggest you try the Swift Schirocco 90 grain bullet, the Nosler Accubond, tha nosler Partitions, and the Barnes Tripple Shock. I have not had good luck with the Hornaday or Sierra Bullets staying together and making consistent pass throughs.
