C&R Application
I sent my application to the BATFE on 24 Jan 05, and they cashed my check on 1 Feb 05. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to get my C&R FFL.

Anyone else recently applied?

It take a long time (9 weeks ), the renewals take longer and usually you need to ask for a letter of extention on your old one while waiting for a new one.

Post here in the Collectors Forum and you will get some current experience info:

The $30 application fee is a pitance if you reload or play gunsmith as you will now get dealer pricing from Midway, Brownells and many others. Plus you can purchase VZ-24s etc from the distributors and have them shipped to your door.

There are many surplus categories, and there is one strictly for C&R FFL's.

The application for my C&R renewal was mailed on Jan 7 and I received my new license yesterday (Feb 10)

I've renewed mine again and they cashed the check on Jan. 19. If they follow the course I should receive mine within the next two weeks. IIRC they have to approve within 60 days or provide an explanation for the delay or refusal.

Be sure to send a copy to Brownell's and Midway. The savings with a C & R are fairly substantial on many items : I figure that I save a couple hundred dollars a year on reloading supplies, tools, etc.

Thanks for the links. I hadn't seen those yet. But Cruffler's info is a tad old, you can't use the PDF 5310.16 anymore, you have to get the Nov 2004 form from the BATFE via snail mail nowadays. It is green, and the layout changed some.

Thanks again!

I've got a couple of those forms sitting on the table now. How the ATF is going to see them there is something I haven't worked out yet. I love that spot on the form that you're supposed to put 5 years worth of addresses in. It's about 1"x1.5" and I've got 4 addresses to put in there. bewildered
