POPHornady 162 gr or 154 gr? Opinions?
I plan to use the 162 BT at 3000 fps muzzle velocity (7mm rem mag) for deer hunting only. It is very accurate in my rifle.
Any field reports shared or opinions will be appreciated.
Also...Is the 154 Hornady any tougher? Any loads for the 154? Thanx

sxr6While I don't have a lot of expierance with those I do have some. Shot a couple moose with the 162gr spbt & found them to be a very tough bullet. Recovered bullet from off side showed very little expantion so I quit using them in my 7X57. I think they would be just about right in a 7 mag.

beemanbemeI have had very good results using the 162gr hornady in my 7mag. I don't THINK the 150gr bullet will do as well as the heavier one. At 3000fps you have plenty of speed so nothing would be gained with the 150 and the larger bullet should carry up better.

snowmanPop I have used both the 154 & the 162 gr Hornady's.I have found then to be very similar in performance.Either bullet will open up on deer @ 7mm rem velocities. One of my boys has a 7mm Rem that shoots the 154 spire better than any other bullet. That is all he shoots in that rifle from deer to moose. It gets the job done.I would suggest shooying the one that groups best in your rifle. I would also suggest you try the new 154 gr SST.
