88fan270 win case concern
recently picked up a rem 700 in 270 win. every case fired in it shows a slight bright ridge where the head meets the wall. can't feel it on the inside with a pick, but it can be felt on the outside. all cases are rem. the rings showed up after the first firing.have been slowly working up loads, no problems have developed. Cant feel anything in the chamber (gun was used) so could this just be a loose chamber? Ive been full length resising, but the rings remain. anyone run into this?
thanks

dentonSounds like your basic pressure ring. There might be something about your chamber geometry or brass that make them more noticeable in this rifle. If that's it, it's normal.

N. GarrettWhat you might be seeing is a slight elipse to the chamber, due to the reamer being run in at a very slight cant (angle). However, that is relatively rare from the major factories.
A gunsmith with an elaborate set up can remove your barrel and run a caliper at the mouth of the chamber and tell how true it is. A few thousands out of round is okay. More than 5 or 6 1/1000 will cut down on the life of your brass, and MIGHT (only might) effect accuracy.
