Powder recomendations..... 200gr. Accubond 300WM
Anybody have any powder recomendations for the 200gr. Accubond in my 300WM???? I have a new Sako Hunter 75 SS on the way and I plan to break it in with 200gr Accubonds. I would like to hear from some of my fellow reloaders on which powder produced the best results for you. What fps are you getting with your favorite accuracy load ?

NorthSniper,

I have tried H1000 and Retumbo in my loads development and have been quite impressed with both thus far.

Hodgon only has a listing for 200gr. Nos Partition with H1000 and nothing on Retumbo. I would have thought Retumbo would be to slow for the 300WM and a 24" barrel

I was also hoping to get some info like fps @ so many gr. of powder so I can figure out my bullet drop @ so many yds as I don't own a chrono yet. Anybody know about Steves Pages? is the highlighted powder the most accurate tested?

It will probably do better in a 26" tube, but I wouldn't discount it in a 24". There was a powder profile done on Retumbo a few issues ago in Handloader Magazine. They got right at what Hodgdon said they got out of they're tests. Anyway here is the link to the .300 Win Mag info for Retumbo.

Also, if you do a seach on Retumbo and/or accubond, I have posted some of my results of my load development.

Here is some of the research.

Id mess around with RL22 and RL25. Maybe just because I have them on hand already.

The highlighted powder is the one that proved most accurate in the rifle I was using, with the components I was using, ant the weather conditions at that time.

Winnie, I think I can get H1000 localy but Retumbo might be a hassle, how did the H1000 work out? Do you have any results from the H1000 ? Most accurate load at how many grains and what fps? Thanks for any info, you could e-mail me if you prefer.

Another for RL-22. I had some very consistent peformance as I stepped up charges 1gr at a time. Ended up with 72gr max, still no obvious pressure signs. 71gr actually shot tightest, but I decided that with a hunting bullet I'd go for the extra bit of speed. 72gr and WLRM primer still gave me sub MOA.

I just went through this, Reloader 22 did very well. Start at 66gr. and work up. I'm holding a little under 1.5" at 300. Good luck.

Northsniper,

Here is a thread that contains a response to Gonzofreakpower a while back. It shows the load I developed using H1000. Just remember to start lower and work up watching signs of pressure.
