Nosler Partitions in .257 Roberts & .35 Whelen.........
I'm interested in loading Nosler Partitions in .257 Roberts and .35 Whelen, 100 gr. in .257 and 225 gr. in .35. Seeking your experiences with these bullets and preferred powder and charges, I will be hunting whitetails with shots mainly within 100 yds.. Suggestions for loads appreciated.

oldMy most accurate load for the 100gr in the .257 48 grains of IMR 4831. Although that was safe in my rifles it might prove hot in yours. Also had good results with IMR 4350 and data 86.

I have IMR 4350 on hand, what was your load for this powder?

I load 39.5 grains of Norma 203B with a 100 grain Nosler Hunting ballistic tip, Federal Match Primers. If you can't find 203B, use RL-15.
My QuickLoad shows that there is a bit less pressure for the Partition and about 30FPS slower.

I have always been a fan of the 257 Roberts. Shot my first deer with one in 1957. I load it for my daughter now.

My sons rifle liked 39 grains of IMR 4064 with a 100 grain bullet, Reloader 15 and 17 were accurate too as was 42 grains of IMR4350, trouble is I could not get the Partitions to be accurate so I switched to 100 grain Sierra's.
I've tried Partitions in a dozen rifles and nearly a hundred load combinations and can't seem to find an accurate load for them, I like my rifles to shoot small groups.
I haven't loaded for the 35 Whelen but if I did I would look at IMR 4064 53 to 55 grains.

Like any reloading info you get on the internet I would confirm it with a loading manual and work up to it in your rifle.

My model 70 257 Roberts likes Nosler 115gr Partitions. Old load was 43.5gr at 2925fps.
Norma MRP, RL22, RL23,and RL26 will all get
you more speed. With 100gr bullets I would
try RL17. 115gr Partitions is most accurate bullet in my rifle. On Antelope bullets usually
pass thru.

My .257 likes 34 gr. IMR 4064 and 39.5 gr. IMR 4350 with Nosler BT. A poster on another site has recommended 42 gr. IMR 4350 with the Nosler PT, I've oredred some Partitions and will try this load. In the .35 Whelen extensive research, load development and range time has show that 54.5 gr. IMR 4064 produces the best accuracy with 225 gr. Sierra Game King and Nosler BT. Also have some 225 gr. PT Noslers ordered to try in the Whelen

If you have an accurate load already for 100's in the .257 and 225's in the 35 why not just substitute the Partitions in the same weight and try that rather than reinventing the wheel? Those loads already provide you a starting point, someone elses faster load may not be the ticket in your rifle.

Why do you need Partition bullets for deer?

In my case that's what the rifle came with
4 boxes of old 115 or 117gr turned partitions
with 43.5gr of IMR4350. Shot real good. Tried
other bullets but those 115gr partitions just
shot better. Especially if you used a slow powder, like Norma MRP, RL22,RL23, or RL26.
RL17 works well with lots of bullets.

Since I already have good loads for Nosler Ballistic Tips my plan is to merely switch to the Partitions. Just seeking input form others as to their experiences. I never said that I felt the need for Partitions for whitetails, just wanted to try them because of their excellent reputation. Thanks to all who took the time to reply.

Varget has been unbeatable for me in the 35 Whelen with both 225 and 250 grain bullets.

The 225 Partition in my .358 Win at 2520 fps. did a great job on the Eastern whitetails over the years and also knocked the snot outa a few Canadian black bears. They're Good !

I load 225 Gr. partitions for my cousins 35 Whelen. IMR 4064 gave us the best accuracy in his Ruger No. 1

I load 57 gr. r-15 behind a 250 gr. Partition. Great accuracy and penetration. I have used r-15 and imr 4064 with 225 gr NP with good results. 56 gr of 4064 iirc

I wanted to switch to Nosler 110gr Accubond
but they did not give me the accuracy that
the 115gr Partitions did. So I switched back.
I also forgot to mention that IMR 4064 was my
light bullet powder for 75gr and 85gr bullets.

I'll have to try some Varget in mine. tu2 I use IMR 4350 in my 257 and Rlr 15 in the Whelen. It seems like the Whelen likes powders that work well in the 308.

I have had excellent luck with 100 grain bullets and 4350 in the Ruger Model 77 I bought in 1984. After shooting up my factory ammunition, I loaded up some Noslers. They worked well. According to notes, I killed a mixed bag of deer and antelope - fourteen head total over three years and three states. No problems. Great cartridge, great bullets, great results.

If you take pictures of a 308 round and a 35 Whelen round and size the photos so that both cartridges are the same length, you can hardly tell the difference.
