Re: where can I find light .375 projectiles?
I have used the Hornady 220 Flat Point with 60gr of IMR 3031 and 64gr. of IMR 3031 and the Speer 235 SPZ with 64gr of IMR 3031 on deer with exellent results.

I see Barnes makes a 210 grain 375 diameter projectile but Cabela's $28/50 seems high to me. Anybody know a cheaper source for a light plinker bullet to play with?

A box of 100 .375" Hornady 225 grain spire points is just $20.45 at MidwayUSA. I load them in my .375 H&H about 2850 fps for deer and black bear.

The 210 grain Barnes X bullet is NOT a plinking bullet! It is a lightweight premium projectile for shooting mule deer big whitetails, and other game in that weight range! I know of NO jacketed plinking bullets for the .375, unless the Speer 235's are cheap enough for you. I suggest you use a cast bullet for this purpose. I use the Lyman 375449 GC, and it also kills whitewtail deer quite satisfactorily.

I highly recommend these Hornady 225s. They are inexpensive, accurate and deadly at reduced velocities. I use then in my 375 RUM with 61 grs of XMP5744 at 2700 fps.

...I think Sierra make a 200gn flat point bullet designed for the .375Winchester.

A little known fact: The Hornady 225 grain SP was actually run for use in the .376 Steyr by miscommunication. It's a real .375 magnum bullet capable of handling 3000'/sec unlike many other bullets designed for much lesser cartridges such as the .375 Winchester/Ballard.

Thanks guys. Midsouth looks like a great resource.

I think I'll order a box of the 200 grain Sierras ($10.52/50) to play with. I'm just plinking for now so there is still time to work up a load for the 210 grain Barnes X if I want a light .375 bullet for white tail in the fall.

The speer 235 gr bullet is good, and I know it works alright on grassy's

the hornady 225 SP is THE cheapest jacketed bullet for the 375, that will work at 375 type velocities. ANY of the FP's afre for the 375 winchester/ or 38/55 .... read SLOW... they'll be BOMBS

try the 225, as its was designed and built for the 376 steyr, to give it a light fast tough bullet

I don't think the 225 Hornady is a Interlock. Nevertheless it's still a big bullet if the game is not all that tough or large.

They shot very well in my 375I until they got near 3000 fps and then the groups opened up.

Mssgn -

I'd side with eldeguello - if you're going to be plinking and cost is an issue, then go with lead. Most rnfpcg's, 200 or 240 gr'ers will run you $12-$15/100; and if you're looking at plinking velocities, you'll probably be using pistol powders, where a nominal load will be 10-14gr's (read: 500-700 rounds per pound of powder, ie, cheap). And over and above that, shooting low velocity lead is going to firelap your barrel (vs chew it up with jacketed).

do shoot straight,

ps. if you're looking for low velocity lead 375 win or 375HH data, we have a fair collection on our website [url above, look under levergun data/studies].
