Where to buy Norma MRP ?

Where to buy Norma MRP ?
Local dealers don't seem to have distributors and can't seem to find it on-line. Same with Ramshot Big Boy
Any suggestions?

Until recently, Grafs & Sons was the only distributor of norma powders. Sadly, I was told that they are discontinuing carrying them. I've contacted every other US distributor of Norma products (listed on Norma's website) and none of them carry the powder. I emailed Norma but have heard nothing back. I'm starting to get worried about maintaining a supply of MRP. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I looked recently at Graf's and they didn't have MRP anymore. They have MRP II and 203-B. I was looking for a good replacement for N205, but I think I'll go back to H4831 instead of trying these new ones.

MRP and Reloader 22 are virtually the same.

I agree, use Rel 22 for half the price of MRP.

Yep. Made in the same factory (here in Sweden by Bofors).

Here are some other equivalents that will save you some money perhaps, or maybe just let you find the powder easier.

The equivalency of these powders isn't just my idea either:

"For our European and African friends, who may have difficulty locating the various powders, there is an authorized substitution.

Reloader-22 is exactly the same thing as Norma-MRP.

Reloader-19 is exactly the same thing as Norma-204.

Reloader-15 is exactly the same thing as Norma-203.

These powders come from exactly the same plant and are made at exactly the same time. The powder from that plant is simply shipped to a different place and is put into a different consumer pack.

Gentlemen:

Interesting thread, this.
Has anybody any further information about direct equivalents in other cannister powders?
I'll start, with the disclaimer that I have NO direct facts about the following, just memories from an old gunrag column or digest, so don't anybody go running off and start swapping powders without load work-up on MY say-so.

I've heard that Win 760 is the same as Hogden H414.
I've also heard that Hogden's Trap 100 is the same as the discontinued Win 452AA.

Anybody else?

In my experience (verified by my chronograph), yes.

However this is still subject to the "reduce 10%" and work back up whenever you start on a new lot of powder!

I always do this when switching powder lots, brands of cases or bullets.

Yes, as usual you have to work up from below. The above equivalent powders were also confirmed to me at an early stage in my reloading career by the (then) marketeer of RL22 - I forget, who marketed RL22 before Alliant?? I asked the same question you asked about using RL22 data with MRP, and the answer I gave above came back. We have had great trouble getting hold of RL22, Rl19 and RL15 here in Switzerland, thus my interest in Norma powders.

Btw, now we are on the subject of powder equivalents, I believe some of the RWS powdes also come from the same Norma production line. If I'm not much mistaken, the equivalent statement above can be extended to:
RL22 ~ Norma MRP ~ RWS N905
RL15 ~ Norma 203 ~ RWS N903
RL19 ~ Norma 204 ~ RWS N904 (I think - there is also N907)

As far as the Ramshot Big Boy, it has been renamed to Magnum.

Some half-wits couldn't distinguish between "Big Game" and "Big Boy". HTH, Dutch.

RL 22 is clearly similar to MRP but is is not "exactly the same thing." This month, I worked up loads for a 300wby using both MRP and RL 22 using the same bullets, primers and powder charges. The RL groups were 2-3 times as large and nothing would shoot under 2moa. MRP on the other hand shot every group into less than 2moa, and several different groups into considerably less than 1moa. While close, it is clearly not exactly the same. I wish it was!
