Ruger .44 standard carbine- old style
Howdy all, does anyone own and reload for one of these? What do they prefer for a good accurate diet? Thanks, Gary

Yup, I have two of them...

I use the Sierra 240 JHC bullet on top of 25.8 grains of H-110 and CCI-350 primers, all contained in Remington cases.

Measures 1,919 fps 15' from the muzzle.
Groups around 1" for 4 shots at 100 yards.

Was working up a load using the Hornady 265 grain FP bullet, and quit because of disappointing performance.

Howdy ricciardelli, thanks for the reply, you must like this rifle a little. No sooner had I started this thread when I opened the new Guns and ammo and lo' and behold Stan Skinner has an article on carbine loads for the .44 mag. He uses the new deerfield as a test bed, but does mention the old version. I've got some loads for my 1894 marlin that I'll try first. Thanks again, Gary
