22-250 AI, 308 and 223 Powder Selections?

<Ben H>22-250 AI, 308 and 223 Powder Selections?
Hi All:
I'm trying to decide what is the best powder to start with for a 22-250 AI w/50-55 gr bullets and also for the 223. The 223's will be 68 gr bullets out of an H-BAR and 50-55 gr slugs out of a Remington 78. I haven't settled on a bullet weight for the .308 yet. I'm like most folks, wanting accuracy and velocity. Is there ONE powder that should work well in all three?
Many Thanks,
Ben H

<Big Stick>Re-15 will work very nicely, across the board............

Stonecreek4895 would come closest to excellent performance in all three. BL-C2 might also do. While H-335 would be great in the .223, I have found it usable but a bit erratic in .22-250 and .308.
In some of the newer powders, something like Varget, VV N135 or such might do the trick, but I have no experience.

<MNTNMAN>I must say the 4895 also.

<Bruce Gordon>Like Big Stick said, Reloader 15 across the board. Buy five pounds and don't look back.
Since trying the good stuff I dumped every bit of IMR crap out in the yard as fertilizer.
In my 308 Remington Tactical, it gives less than 10 fps velocity spread for 5 shots as long as I do my part when reloading.

<Don Martin29>I really favor the IMR powders but I learn something almost every day. I would not force myself to use just one powder with those three cartridges but 4895 is a good choice. In that burning rate range IMR 4064 is my favorite. I don't load for the .223 any longer so I did not consider that one.
For fun you could down load the free interior ballistics program "Loadbase". It works on the Powley formulas for IMR powders. This will select a good load and powder for you.

Where can I find this program?

<Don Martin29>R-West,
Type "loadbase" into your explorers search function. Find "Steves loading pages" Find Loadbase 1.0 there. Download it. There is a code to activate it I think. You can find that here by doing a search for "Loadbase" in this forum.
If you get stuck tell us and we will try to help. I don't know anything about computers so if someone else wants to take over please do.

Have a look at Varget data. Works well in my .223, 260 and 7/08, among others.

<green 788>Another vote for Varget. I know it works incredibly well in the .223 and the .308. If you want some data, let me know.
Varget is fast becoming the .308 match powder to beat.

<rifleman>I'm starting to believe in Varget in a big way. So far I use it in my 223, 260 and I'm now working on it in my 270.
