Nominal OAL of a cartridge is 2.8" max but really depends on your bullet and rifle. Nominal length of an empty new case is 2.035". Your loading manual should have all this info. You do use at least one manual, don't you?

ricciardelliThe .260 Remington has been around since 1996, or so.
Very similar to, if not the same as the 6.5-08 A Square.

Steve is correct. The 6.5-08 A-Square was introduced in 1996 and Remington introduced their version, the 260 Remington, in 1997. Not exactly a new cartridge. Wildcat versions started showing up about the time the 308W brass became available.
My comment was not meant to be wise-ass. I am actually a very easy going guy. I have a shit-load of manuals too.
