For plinking, I use the Winchester 147 grain FMJ.

For target shooting, I use the Nosler 150 grain Ballistic Tip.

I don't have a chronograph but both are using the minimum loads listed in my manuals.

I've had great luck in my FN Mauser .30-06 with Nosler's 165 grain ballistic tip. Driven to 2850f/s by 58.5 grains of IMR 4350, this load has flattened more mule deer than I care to count.
Sierra's 168 grain matchking is a favorite of mine for use in the M-1 and 03-A3. Propelled by 50 grains of IMR 4895, they reliably deliver 2680f/s. For economy I'll load Remington's 165 grain cor-lokt instead, which I might add, makes a great hunting load!
The 200 grain accubond launched from a pre-64 model 70 is my bullet of choice for the 300 H&H. I'm still working out the details, but hope to make 3000f/s with IMR 7828 SSC when all is said and done.

165gn Partition at 2650 and 2800fps out of a 308 and 30-06 for pigs and deer.

"It's not how hard you hit 'em, it's where you hit 'em." The 30-06 will, with the right bullet, successfully take any game animal in North America up to 300yds. Get closer!

I'll add that on targets and I suppose if I take it where deer are the only game, the 165 SST is a better bullet and shoots the best, 3/4" or better out of my 308.capt david

Hard to say my Favorite so I'll just list the most accurate for me:

150 NABs in several 300s and 06' have been quite the shooter and great on deer sized animals.

190 MKs turn in some fantastic groups in one of my 300s.

168 NBTs do quite well from my 300SAUM.

180 Hdy SPILFBs have been great shooters.

Ive got a plethora of .308 bullets and cant think of any that I dislike, but I suppose my favorite is the 180 gn accubond from an 06 for Elk. From a 308 I like 165's.

Sometimes Ill play around with 180 gn hardcast's from a 300 Savage just for shits and giggles.

I also like nearly any 150 gn slug for deer, whatever shoots best from a given rifle.

I'm not a hunter,so all my shooting is killin' paper and a 308 is what I usually buy to do that with.I had alot of luck using Nosler Comp 168 HPBT's.In one rifle they even shot better than 168 SMK's.I usually used a light charge of BLC-2 at just below 2,400fps out of a 24" 10FP.If I had all my shit together,it would produce 3 shot 100yd groups in the high .100's.

My favourite hunting load for my .308 Steyr Prohunter Tactical (20" barrel) is the Federal Hig Energy Trophy Bonded Bearclaw 165 grains, chronoed at 2760 fps. I use it for almost everything, from fox to big red stag.

I have to say that the TBBC is one of the best bullets, I ever shot.

Highland Grom 170gr. It's a soft nose with a solid shank. Close up it act as a flat nose and at distance it mushroom perfectly. Very good weight retension and it's even cheaper than Sierras.

150 gr SST for my .308 Win.

I have tried 165 gr, and once a 180gr bullet. Both gave ok results, but the most accurate remains that 150gr SST. Which is plenty for deer.

I've been shooting the 168 gr tripleshock the last couple of years, first in a 300 WSM and this year in a 300WIn mag, very accurate, from the WSM perfromance was fantastic, vel from the WSM was 3100 fps, fromthe 300 WIn mag it is 3200.
In my 308 I've been shoting 165 gr accubond, I will be using that load for deer this fall.
