dpcdYes and you knew this once; the parent case for 220 Swift is the 6mm Lee Navy. It has a .444 body.
Very easy to get them now.
Wait, this is not 1921 is it?
6.5 Jap is the closest thing I can think of.

impala#03Hi Ray,
I have a lot of W/W primed new brass, and some once fired also. If interested, I'll give you a firm count.

AtkinsonYes I know that, but the Lee NAVY IS NOT TO BE HAD ...I plead guilty,,,,but what I would like to do is build swift cases from some popular caliber like maybe the 30-30 or 348, something thats availabvle..that said I got about 200 new cases now, but what about the future of the swift?? The difficulty is not a problem, the how to is??

dpcdNo one actually reads my posts do they?
Neither the 30-30 nor the 348 brass is suitable for a 220. Only one I know of even close is the 6.5 Jap.
Future of the 220; it is already gasping for breath for a few decades now. Only old guys use them. (I am building two right now)

Actually, I read most all of your posts.
220 Swift:
Use .270 Win brass, swage base to .445" dia., FL size (expander removed), inside neck ream, FL size, trim to length, chamfer. PIA, but doable, I've done it. The Swift is a dinosaur. A properly loaded 6mm Rem will do the same thing, and the 22-250 will come close.

NormanConquestThen you can have the 22-250 AI 40 deg. + you're there.
Never mistake motion for action.

theback40If you section a swift case, it has a very stout case head.

And Improve the swift and you have the best of both worlds! Love my 220AI, it's hell on prairie dogs! I can load several times without trimming and get 4,000 with a 55gr bullet!

A 6mm Rem does the same thing, "AI ing" not required.

AtkinsonI hit the jack pot and found 20 boxes of old but new 220 Swift cases..I am out of 210 Federals but have a 1000 215 Federal magnum rifle primers..
I figure I can use the 215s in the swift if I cut the max charge by a grain or two, and use a ball powder like 380, 760, 335, Bl-c2 all of which I have on hand...Whatcha think folks?

Atkinsonand I picked up another 250 new WW cases, so Im good for awhile anyway!

I wont argue the pros and cons of the swift, Ive alway got along with it in the past and yearned to play with it again and Im enjoying it to no end, other than I keep shooting over those coyotes way out yonder, need to just quit holding over the rascals..Damn this gun shoots flat.
craig,
I don't see how the 270 can do that in that the swift is a simi rimmed cartridge?????
