Does anyone have experience with the heavier RWS H-Mantle bullets on big game? 9.3mm ?? I've found them quite accurate in 6.5x54mm, and 7x64mm and super deadly on deer in the 6.5x54mm. Considering using the 258 grain 9.3mm for African Plains Game (I have a stock of these bullets) and wonder if anyone has used them before. I know these bullets have been around for years.

Sierra The H mantel bullet is made to open reliably on thin skinned game and function similar to a Nosler Partition. Instead of a bullet jacket with a bulkhead or H shape like the partition ,the H mantle jacket has a fold in it. Upon hitting an animal the front section is designed to fragment and separate from the harder rear section which is supposed to continue to penetrate. On light skinned game they work quite well.I would not recommend then on larger game. I would strongly suggest the 286 gr Partition,293 gr TUG,300 gr Swift A-frame or a Barnes X bullet for larger /heavier game.

+1 for the TUG: Reliable bullet, never had any problems w/ big game. Not suitable for thin skinned game, mind.

I have used the H-Mantel with my 9.3x62 on game up to Water Buck and Kudu.
Although great for game up to that size it might be a tad light for Eland ect.

I used RWS 9,3 / 258 H-Mtl from 1990 in two 9,3 x 62 for hunt reed deer, jabalí, puma. It's devastator your effect in this kind of animal!

Thanks for the responses, guys. I've just verified that the chiropractor has "healed" my neck and shoulder, so the 9.3x62 is out of the closet again. I'll be loading up the 256 gr H-Mantles and planning on nothing larger than Waterbuck, and Black Wildebeest this time out. FYI, the load is 55.5 grains of N201 with the H-Mantle.
