THATS RIGHT. ILL BUY A $1500 SCOPE BUT I WONT PUT IT ON MY $600 DOLLAR DEER RIFLE. ILL JUST PUT THE SCOPE IN A GLASS CASE SO IT WONT GET ANY DUST ON IT AND MASTURBATE FROM ACROSS THE ROOM.

I just sighted in my nephew's new Rem 700 in .338 RUM wearing a new 4.5x14 AO Nikon Buckmaster.

Let me tell you that I'm disappointed with that scope's windage and elevation adjustment.In particular what I didn't like was the inconsistent feel of the clicks while turning the adjustment knobs. Sometimes the click would be crisp and feel precise. Then the next click would feel mushy and appeared to have play in it. This play would then disappear as I rocked the knob back and forth.

I have never owned a scope with such terrible "knob feel". Have others experienced this? Did I get a lemon? Should I send it back?

Did it hold zero when you sighted in?

If you don't intend on using adjustments in the field, it is probably ok.

You should give Nikon's customer service department a call.

My BMs scope seems to click just fine. I just shot a group @ 200 that went about 1/2" about a week ago. It seems to hold it's zero quite well but, it is on a "Sissy" 270 win. when compared to your nephew's 338 RUM.

Thanks for the info guys. I will tell Herb on the telephone tomorrow.

But just to bring you up to date, we called Nikon (customer service and tech departments) and they said that this was not the way the windage and elevation adjustments are supposed to work. They suggested that we return the scope to the dealer.

After considerable discussion, the dealer agreed to exchange it for a new one and it will arrive here tomorrow.

Herb will have to remount it and take it to the range again
and I'm sure he will let you know the results in the next week.
