Colt CommanderInside of hands yellowing???
This might sound strange but has anybody ever noticed
a yellowing of just the inside of your hands from excessive
handling of brass cases while reloading?

No, that is from the Cheetos you are eating.

Colt CommanderThank you for the reply.
I understand the humorous
replies, it is an unusual
question, but it is a bit
disconcerting noticing a yellow
tint to the inside if the hands.
Lately I have been handling a
great deal of polished 45 ACP
Brass while loading.I would have
assumed it would leave more of a
blackish coloration rather than yellow
Though.

ramrod340Yep I've seen it. Can't say one type of brass vs another. I must eat neater I normally only have Cheetos on the fingers.

What color is your skin to start with?
In 57 years of reloading I've never noticed that. I'll pay more attention today. My lube is Bardahl and it is a dark honey color.

Hmm. Wasn't there the guy, lived on his own, that used to watch porno movies on DVD and got worried that his penis was yellowing?
Until the doctor asked him what else he did when watching his porno? And he guy sheepishly replied, "Nothing Doc, nothing at all, I just sit there watching them and eating Cheetos..."

mike_elmerWell, I have never noticed on mine either. So, I wonder if it may be associated with either the case lube, or the tumbler media... I use walnut hulls with jewelers rouge, and I do get a reddish brown powder on my fingers that washes off easily. I also use the Hornady spray lube, which is colorless.

StonecreekIndividuals may have a particular skin chemistry which reacts with certain metals. For instance, my wife has noticed that when she eats a lot of tomatoes her silver jewelry will leave a dark residue on her skin.
12 December 2013, 21:00
dpcdNope.
You have what is called "acid skin", or "poison skin" which will tarnish anything it touches. Some people with that cause guns to rust with any contact. Others can touch them with bare hands and not cause rust. One good thing is that you can rust blue barrels without chemicals.
OH, don't panic; everyone's skin is coated with acid; some just more than others.

Colt CommanderYou might have a point about "Poison Skin".
Case in point, I have a girlfriend that doesn't
want me to touch her anymore!

14 December 2013, 02:58
dpcdYeah, my wife is exactly like that but not because of my skin.

Suwannee TimYears ago I worked for Winchester for a summer, I was making TNR, trinitroresorcinal for primer mix. I neglected to use gloves one and died my hands bright yellow. Everyone knew what I had done. It was embarrassing. Years later in the electronics industry I was making gold chloride. This stuff will stain your hands purple and I did that too.

It is probably from the polish. Ever waxed a car and watched the rag turn the color of your car?
