homebrewerOne or two of you guys are going to like this...
A friend called me today to tell me that a friend of his (whom I do not know) has
THREE FIVE-GALLON BUCKETS of .45ACP brass that he wants to give away. My friend says I can have them. Also, that his friend wants to learn to reload. I can teach him that, no problem. So what are my plans for the brass? I plan to offer them here in lots of maybe 500 or enough to fill a medium-size flat-rate box for the cost of sending alone-- no mark-up because I paid nothing for them. Why should I charge you, huh? A medium box ships for less than eleven bucks. I can find no reason to profit because of my good fortune. If I get slammed with dozens of requests, it may take me a bit to get them all sent. I will send them to you with a SASE included. You just send me a check for $10.70 when you get the box. Fair enough?
When I get them, I'll put up a post and we'll go from there...

Winchester 69Will the brass be sorted by brand?
OK. I confess. I don't shoot 45.

Nope. I assume it's gonna be all commercial. Plan today is to fill up a medium flat-rate box and send it along-- dirty, crushed, commercial, mil-surp, whatever. Hell, it's free. What more can I do?
29 January 2010, 11:41
vapodogmay I ask you to consider auctioning them somewhere and donating the proceeds to the NRA?
In that manner we all win!

butchloci think you really need to buy a 45, everybody needs to have a 45, perhaps even several. after all if you don't have a 45 and the people in the PF find out about it you will receive much constructive criticism
29 January 2010, 20:33
wasbeemanAnd let me tell you what I THINK you ought to do..........

BES is Number Two...
I'd like to ask you guys if I can up the price to the $10.70 for the box plus 44 cents for the SASE I will include for the check you send back. If you want to send cash, that's fine, too. I prefer the checks. If you'd like to remain anon, I can ship to your work address or any deliverable address you want. I'm not collecting names and addresses through this. I have no need for the information. What I am doing is hoping to fill a need for a few guys out there when it seems that finding brass for .45ACP is like getting a date with Miss America when you're as ugly as I am. I have several three-pound coffee cans of .45 already-- all cleaned, resized, decapped and some of it flared and primed. I am just too flunkin' lazy to finish loading it. I did all that before I got a computer and found this site. So when I get this stuff, I'll fill a medium flat-rate box, weigh it and then we'll know about how many you'll be getting based on what one case weighs. I'm going to guess between 400 and 500-- just a guess...

Keep your eyes on this thread. I thought we were going to get the brass this weekend, but that has changed. My friend doesn't have the money for the 300-mile round trip to get them, so he wants to wait until his mom comes down and brings them with her. I ain't gonna pay for the gas because I'm a cheap bast?rd. I have told him I want the brass, and to tell the source to keep them until we can get them. We are going to do this and go after it until we get them or the bottom drops out of the whole thing. Let's all think good thoughts...

I'm estimating we'll get 20,000. I'm guessing a medium box will have maybe 1,000 in it. We'll just have to see how it shakes out...

NashcatThanks for the offer, but the idiots at the local range usually don't pick up their brass, so I already have a 5 gallon bucket almost full. Offers like this don't come around very often.

I'd rather they go to reloaders who can use them as opposed to someone who'd buy them at auction, then sell them for money. .45 brass is hard to come by-- especially at the low, low price I'm asking for it...
31 January 2010, 04:15
BradNCI"m new too the sight. I would be interested in 45 brass if the offer is still good.
31 January 2010, 04:46
homebrewerYou're on it, Brad. You're Number 12 or 13. I'm hoping I get about 20,000 cases. Should be enough to make one or two of you guyts happy-- until you have to sit there and load 'em...
