What is your favorite .25-06 powder / bullet?
What is your favorite combination? Looking for data for Varmints, Paper and Game. I am going to loading for a Remington Sendero in .25-06. Thanks!

For varmints- the 87 grain Speer TNT. Don't use this load on anything that you want to keep the hide from :-)

For deer, I like the Barnes 100 grain XLC coated bullet of H4831. Very accurate, and always consistant dependable performance.

I load 87gr. Hornady spire points with Remington case, RP 9 1/2 primer, 54.9 grains of IMR 4831. This is a mild load and shoots extremely well in my Sendero. I don't use it for deer but Remington 120 grain factory loads shoot 1/2" groups in mine.

Have had good luck with H4831, R22 and Norma MRP.

With the 100 gr Hornady spire pt I use either 56 gr of MRP and FED 210match primer,1/2 in groups.

same bullet with 56 gr H4831, CCI BR2 for 3/4 in groups.

Sierra 100 gr BTSP game king, 57 gr R22 REM 91/2 primer, usually stays in the .3's.

In heavier bullets I like the Hornady 117 BTSP, with it I load either 54 gr MRP with a FED 210 macht , shoots in the .4's

with the same bullet 55 gr R22, Fed 210 Match, will shoot in the .5's.

MY 25-06 and the others that I load for seem to prefer loads that are at max or close to it. Bullet seeting depth is the key to great accuracy as well as playing with primers.

these loads are max or close to it

ricciardelli,

You saved me the trouble. I love that Sierra 120 gr. HPBT. That is a pronghorn droppin', mule deer stoppin' round.

I use 50 gr. of IMR-4350

Another vote for the 100 Btip, 54.2 IMR 4831/CCI 200, shoots in the .6's or less from an ultralite rifle.

For game shooting, I use the Sierra 117-ghrain for deer-size game, and Nosler Partition 115-grainers for larger stuff. My favorite powder is Norma MRP (old type).

I've always liked the 90 grain Sierra HPBT at everything. Mule deer, Whitetails, Antelope, Coyotes, Rockchucks, Osamas... Pretty much anything you would want to shoot under 400 pounds. I like RE 19(54-57 grains) and IMR 4350(50-54 grains). You can easily get 3400 with out trying too hard, and that means +/- 2" to about 260 yards, -4" @300, and -14" at 400. That's about as flat as you can really ask for. I love the 25-06, it's hands down my favorite rifle caliber. ~lokey

I'm using my 25-06 Sendero as a long range target gun.
My favorite load is 54 grs H-4831 SC, CCI mag primer with the Sierra 100 BTHP match bullet.
My favorite ground hog load is 54grs 4831, CCI Mag primer, and the Speer 100 gr hollow point. It will blow day light through a ground hog at any distance you can see him.

Hornady 117 BT..fed 215br cap...55gr IMR 7828. 3200+fps and well under 3" @ 300 YDS for 5 shots.

Been using the Speer 100gr. flat base for 20+ years. Always use IMR 4831 and Fed. match primers. 53 grs. gives almost 3300fps and it doesn't blow the sh#t out of it. Accurate in several rifles too. FWIW

Win cases ,win lg rifle primers ,115 Nosler Bt and 55 grs of RL22. 1 inch groups @ 200 yds.Best antelope load I,ve ever used. I can switch to 115 gr partions but the groups open up to the 2-2 1/2 inch range @ 200 yds.

4831 behind a 90 grain, I wouldn't go higher than a 100 grain. these 2 bullets can hit rockchucks at at 600 yards and preform better than any of the other weight bullets.
