tsieroIMR 7383 Powder
I found out that 78grs of 7383 powder behind a 180gr Berger hp will destroy the rifle in 7mm-300 weatherby.

<Don Martin29>What cartridge are you talking about?
There is a IMR 7828 but not a IMR powder of the number as far as I know.
Now 86 gr of 7828 is the max load for the .300 Weatherby and a 180 gr bullet.
Please check your data.

<Don G>How did it destroy the rifle? This looks like a max load for a 7mm-300WBY, but not overly dangerous.
If it was a 7mm WBY, that is a different story.
What happened?
Don You are right, I used IMR7828, never heard of the other.

tsieroA 7mm-300 weatherby is a 300 Weatherby necked down to 7mm approximating a 7mm STW in Case capacity. IMR 7383 is .50 Cal Spotter powder which burns like charcoal at a rate like IMR 4895. I found this out later.

GeorgeSUsing a non-canister powder is an invitation to disaster, as you found out.
