LE270If you get powder from anything other than a local dealer where you pick it up yourself you'll have to pay a special hazardous materials shipping fee which now runs, if I remember correctly, about $14 per shipment. But that is a one-fee-per-shipment deal, so if you can buy a substantial amount of powder (e.g., one or more 8-pound units, or a number of different one-pound units) in one shipment, or some powder and some primers (primers too require the hazardous materials fee), then it's advantageous to do it that way.
One dealer that I've used for powder is Graf & Sons. They're at www.grafs.com

<David Wile>Hey GSF,
I agree with Hotdog, Jeff Bartlett is a good source for surplus powder. My suggestion is to buy four 8lb jugs at a time, and they will generally waive the HazMat fee. There are a few other surplus powder suppliers that advertise in Shotgun News also. Surplus powder is good powder and a good bargain. I could suggest WC852, WC846, and WC844 as good powders for the calibers you mentioned. They are also ball powders which meter through a powder measure like a dream.
Best wishes,
Dave Wile

Major CaliberYes, I think I will buy 4 8lb kegs of different powder. UPS is really ripping us off on the Hazmat fee's, I remember when they first started with the charge, it was $7, I think they just raised it again, the first of the year to $20!
