Magnum61Parker Hale 270 win and 150 gr. Ballistic Tip loads???!?!?
I was just given this gun and I got this box of 150 grain Ballistic tips for around $7 because this sporting goods store was going out of business.
Could someone give me some loads for this bullet with H4831SC or RL22? and maybe a velocity estimate with a 24" barrel.
Thanks

Allan DeGrootNosler lists (WIN case, Fed210 primer):
RL22
52.5gr 2672fps
54.5gr 2787fps
56.5gr 2902fps
H4831
51.0gr 2728fps
53.0gr 2819fps
55.0gr 2905fps(fastest load for any propellant)
RL19
51.0gr 2662fps
53.0gr 2777fps
55.0gr 2892fps
Nosler does their testing for the 270win in a 24" Shilen barrel with a 1:10"twist
Traditionally IMR4350 is supposed to be one of the best propellants for the 270, but in the one rifle I have tested loads for (a Rem700) I couldn't get any loads that would stop "smoking" the neck and shoulders without flattening primers with IMR4350 so I switched to RL22.
RL22 leaves the bore sooty, but at 100yds 140gr Noslers
would make beautiful little tricornered holes

Good luck.

MajorCaliberI have the same gun, I use 58grs of H-4831 for about 3020 fps, or 58 grs of AA-3100 for 3100 fps. This gun will do sub 1/2 moa with these loads

Steel SlingerJMO, but I would say since you got those BTs so cheap, use em for practice rounds. I used them for a few years, and finally got tired of all the meat damage they create. They give excellent kill results, but...
My load for those is 56gr H4831SC. Usually gives me 3/4 inch groups.

MajorCaliberWith RL-22 I was using 58.5 grs for about 3050fps
